Date & Walnut Loaf
Time of preparation: 30 Minutes
Time of cooking: 60 Minutes
Flour | 1 cup |
Baking Powder | 1 tea spoon |
Cocoa powder | 1 table spoon |
Soda bi carbonate | ½ tea spoon |
Eggs | 4 |
Ground Sugar | 1 cup |
Oil/ Butter | ¾ cup |
Dates (chopped) | ½ cup |
Walnut ( chopped) | ½ cup |
Vanilla/ chocolate essence | Few drops |
1. Sift together flour, baking powder, soda and cocoa powder |
2. Beat together eggs and sugar. |
3. Add oil or softened butter slowly. |
4. Fold in the flour at low speed. |
5. Finally add chopped dates* and walnut. |
6. Bake for almost an hour at 200° – 230° C/ 400° – 450° F/ Gas mark 5. |
7. Let cool and then use butter icing and chocolate sauce to garnish. |
Tip; Dates should be used dry. |
