Bhuna Khichdi

Mong Daal | 1 cup |
Rice | 2 cups |
Channa Dal | ½ cup |
Ginger (finely grated) | 2 teaspoon |
Cinnamon Stick | 1 inch sized |
Clove | 1 or 2 |
Bay leaf | 1 |
Green Chillies | 2 |
Ghee or Oil | ½ cup |
Onion (crispy fried) | For garnishing |
1. Roast the yellow lentils in a frying pan lightly. |
2. Rinse rice, channa dal and yellow lentils together. Drain the water. |
3. In a saucepan heat the ghee, put in all ingredients and fry for 2 minutes. |
4. Add 5 cups of hot water, cover and cook for 20–25 minutes. |
5. Serve in a rice dish, garnished with crispy fried onion. |
Tip; Bhuna Khichdi with meat curry, fresh vegetable-salad and sweet and sour aubergine make a good menu. |
